Senate Passes
Unemployment Extension through November 30, 2010
July 20, 2010
The U.S. Senate has
approved renewing the federal unemployment extensions. The
measure would provide back payments to eligible Hoosiers, but it
does not provide additional weeks for people who have already
exhausted the Extended Benefits (EB) program. The proposal must
still be approved by the U.S. House of Representatives and the
President. Those actions are expected later this week. Once
signed into law, it will take a couple of weeks to reprogram our
computer system and restore benefits to eligible Hoosiers. Check
back
here
for updates.
Federal Extensions
to Expire Affecting Hoosiers Beginning
June 6, 2010
May 28,
2010
The US Congress
recessed through June 7 without
reauthorizing the federal unemployment
extension programs. Hoosiers collecting
federal extended unemployment may
receive the weeks remaining on their
current benefit tier, but they will not
move to the next tier of benefits.
Sunday, June 6, 2010 will be the first
day that a person who is fully exhausted
will not receive a voucher for their
weekly benefit. All Extended Benefit (EB)
recipients will not have a voucher
available beginning June 13, 2010. Check
back
here
for the
latest information on these benefits.
