Federal Unemployment Extensions Reauthorized through April 5, 2010

The federal government approved legislation continuing the five federally funded unemployment extensions through April 5, 2010. This legislation also continues the $25 per week additional payment. The law DOES NOT provide any additional weeks of benefits. Eligible Hoosiers will be able to resume receiving these federal benefits beginning Thursday, March 4, 2010 by completing their weekly voucher on Uplink, DWD's online unemployment filing system.

There will be a Make-up Orientation & Enrollment meeting for those that missed their meeting for TAA & TRA on March 24, 2010 at 3:00pm at the New Castle Work-One Office on South 14th st in Payne Village Shopping Area (the former Ben Franklin Store)
Reminder The 28 day check in meeting for TAA & TRA will be March 23, 2010 at 9:00 am if you have unsigned paperwork please bring it with you to be turned in.

UPDATE: Federal Extensions to expire on Sunday

The U.S Congress adjourned Friday without reauthorizing the four federal extensions of unemployment benefits and Extended Benefits. Each of those programs will expire this weekend. If you do not see a voucher on your claimant homepage beginning Sunday, you are likely exhausted. According to federal law, people can receive the benefits remaining on their current unemployment tier but they will not roll to the next tier of benefits. Hoosiers concerned about losing these benefits should consider a job with the U.S. Census. Thousands of Census jobs are available in Indiana paying up to $15 per hour. Hoosiers interested in applying for a census job should visit: http://2010.census.gov/2010censusjobs/.

Orientation Meetings
TAA Orientation Meetings will be held at the New Castle Work-One on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 9-11 am and at 1-3 pm. All members affected will be receiving a letter from DWD early next week with their times attached. You are strongly advised to attend your Orientation Meeting. Not attending this meeting could jeopardize your ability for training and and unemployment compensation.
